kadācil loka-jijñāsur
gūḍho rātryām alakṣitaḥ
caran vāco ‘śṛṇod rāmo
bhāryām uddiśya kasyacit
Synonyms
kadācit—once upon a time; loka-jijñāsuḥ—desiring to know about the public; gūḍhaḥ—hiding Himself by a disguise; rātryām—at night; alaksitah—without being identified by anyone else; caran—walking; vacah—speaking; aśṛṇot—heard; ramah—Lord Rāmacandra; bhāryām—unto His wife; uddiśya—indicating; kasyacit—of someone. ¶
Translation
Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: Once while Lord Rāmacandra was walking at night incognito, hiding Himself by a disguise to find out the people’s opinion of Himself, He heard a man speaking unfavorably about His wife, Sītādevī. ¶
