Lecture [partially recorded]
So to love Kṛṣṇa we don’t require anything. Ahaituky apratihatā. It is open for everyone, but we should learn to sacrifice for Kṛṣṇa. That is the sign of love. Yat karoṣi yad aśnāsi yaj juhoṣi. If you… You are eating. If you simply decide that “I shall not eat anything which is not offered to Kṛṣṇa,” then Kṛṣṇa will understand, “Oh, here is a devotee.” “I shall not see anything except Kṛṣṇa’s beauty.” Kṛṣṇa can understand. “I shall not hear anything except Hare Kṛṣṇa and topics on Kṛṣṇa…” These things are there. It does not require that you become very wealthy, very beautiful, or very learned. You have to decide that “I shall not do this without Kṛṣṇa. I shall not do this without Kṛṣṇa. I shall not mix with any man who is not Kṛṣṇa conscious. I shall not talk anything which does not speak about Kṛṣṇa.” So your… “I shall not go anywhere except Kṛṣṇa’s temple. I shall not engage my hands in anything except Kṛṣṇa’s business.” In this way, if you train your activities, then you love Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa is purchased—simply by your determination. Kṛṣṇa does not require anything from you. Simply He wants to know whether you have decided to love Kṛṣṇa. That’s all.
SB 1.2.20
Hm. So bhagavat-tattva-vijñānam. Vijñāna means science. It is not concoction, speculation; it is a science. Just like mathematic is a science: “Two plus two equal to four.” You cannot make two plus two equal to five according to your whims. No. Anywhere you go, it doesn’t matter, because it is science, so either in America or in India or in England, everyone will accept, “Two plus two equal to four.” That is science. Science is true everywhere. Not that “I can imagine my God according to my whims; you can imagine your God…” That is going on. No. How you can imagine? There is no question of imagine. This bhagavat-tattva-vijñānam, this truth, this science, can be understood by a person who is mukta-saṅga. Mukta-saṅga, means freed from material association. He can understand. Mukta-saṅgasya jāyate. And the condition is evaṁ prasanna-manasaḥ. When you are enlightened, engladdened… Because so long we are in the jurisdiction of ignorance and passion, there cannot be any jubilant. There cannot be any enlightenment. Therefore you have to come to the platform of goodness. As it is stated in the previous…
Bg 2.17 Lecture
Now it is very clearly enunciated, the nature of the soul. Any sensible man can understand. This is practical. Formerly, all the verses, they were more or less theoretical: dehino ‘smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā [Bg. 2.13]. This is…, it may be taken theoretical. Not theoretically, but actually the fact, but still less intelligent cannot understand that there is a soul within this body. But here it is explained very clearly: avināśi tu tad viddhi. Tat—that thing which is spread all over the body. Avināśi tu tad viddhi. Tad—that, avināśi—imperishable. So what is spread all over the body? Consciousness. That is spread all over the body. Everyone can understand that if I pinch any part of my body or your any part of the body, you feel pain. Or similarly, if you get some other facilities, pleasure, so pains and pleasure are felt so long there is consciousness. Any man can understand. And as soon as the consciousness is not there—sometimes we are made unconsciousness by drugs, by chloroform and other anaesthetic medicine, or by nature—unconscious stage.
Lecture, “What is Religion?”
Today’s subject matter is “What is Religion?” So we are reciting some verses from the Sixth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, where the subject matter, dharma, is discussed. It is said that dharmaṁ tu sākṣād bhagavat-praṇītam. Dharma, it is Sanskrit word, and the English translation, generally it is made as “religion.” Religion is accepted as a kind of faith. But faith may be wrong or right, according to the different time, persons, climate, condition—so many consideration. But Śrīmad-Bhāgavata says, dharmaṁ tu sākṣād bhagavat-praṇītam. Dharma, or religion, means the law given by God. Simple formula. As there are laws given by the state, similarly, the supreme state, supreme governor is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Morning Walk in Public Gardens
About birth control. So birth control means the father and mother, the father and mother should not become father and mother unless they take full responsibility for the children to save them from the repetition of birth and death. This is the śāstric injunction. Pitā na sa syāj jananī na sā syāt na mocayed yaḥ samupeta-mṛtyum. The, everyone is, in this material world, is going on in the cycle of birth and death, tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ, transmigrating from one body to another. And after many millions of years he gets the chance of becoming a human being. Now in this life he can stop the birth and death. Punar janma jāya. And that is Vedic culture: how to conquer over this process of repetition, birth and death. That is only possible in the human life. A chance is given, and if he misses this chance then again he’ll be cycle… Therefore the father and mother’s duty is to train up the children in such a way that this is the last birth. No more birth. Tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti. And that training, that is Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Brahman realization is considered catastrophic in the sense if one does not make further progress to Krishna Consciousness. The less intelligent class of men give more stress on the Brahman realization and they take it as final, so this conclusion is a catastrophe. Because one has to make further progress for Paramatma realization, and further progress for God realization. If one finalizes everything...
