śrutam etan mayā pūrvaṁ
jñānaṁ vijñāna-saṁyutam
dharmaṁ bhāgavataṁ śuddhaṁ
nāradād deva-darśanāt
Synonyms
śrutam—heard; etat—this; maya—by me; purvam—formerly; jnanam—confidential knowledge; vijñāna-saṁyutam—combined with its practical application; dharmam—transcendental religion; bhāgavatam—in relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead; suddham—having nothing to do with material activities; nāradāt—from the great saint Nārada; deva—the Supreme Lord; darśanāt—who always sees. ¶
Translation
Prahlāda Mahārāja continued: I received this knowledge from the great saint Nārada Muni, who is always engaged in devotional service. This knowledge, which is called bhāgavata-dharma, is fully scientific. It is based on logic and philosophy and is free from all material contamination. ¶
