śuni’ saba goṣṭhī tāra kare hāhā-kāra
‘aiche bāt mukhe tumi nā ānibe āra

Synonyms

suni—hearing; saba—all; goṣṭhī—family members and friends; tara—of the elderly brāhmaṇa; kare—do; ha-ha-kara—exclamation of disappointment; aiche—such; bāt—proposal; mukhe—in the mouth; tumi—you; na—not; ānibe—should bring; ara—again. 

Translation

When those who belonged to the family circle heard the narration of the old brāhmaṇa, they made exclamations showing their disappointment. They all requested that he not make such a proposal again.
